Cazenovia College's Nicole Kimmel (Rome, NY/RFA) was named the NEAC women's lacrosse player of the year and Chad Salls (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) the baseball player of the year for the 2009 season.Kimmel led the Wildcats with 91 points, 62 goals and 43 ground balls and was second on the team in assists with 29 in 2009 as Cazenovia won the regular season title. The Wildcats finished 11-4 overall and earned the program's first-ever post-season appearnace with a bid to the ECAC Upstate Championships. This year, Kimmel broke Cazenovia single season records for points, goals, assists and ground balls. She is also second on the career list for points, goals and assists with two full seasons left to play.Salls finished the year hitting .368 with 50 hits, a team-leading 40 RBIs, 35 runs scored, 10 doubles, six homeruns and 17 stolen bases. Also used heavily as a pitcher this season, Salls compiled a 5-2 record in seven starts with a 7.35 ERA. He led the Wildcats in innings pitched with 45 and threw a team-high 40 strikeouts, while allowing a .239 opponent batting average. The Wildcats finished 22-17 overall, earning their first-ever post-season appearance with a trip to the ECAC Upstate Championships.Salls holds Cazenovia career records for batting average (.438) and slugging percentage (.685).
