Wildcats Shut Down Morrisville St.; Clarke Sets Scoring Record |

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Senior Colleen Clarke (Johnson City, NY) scored 13 points to become Cazenovia College basketball’s all-time leading scorer in a 77-43 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) playoff win over Morrisville State Tuesday evening at the Schneeweiss Athletic Complex.
Clarke needed just 10 points entering the contest to surpass Tiffany Trent’s mark of 1,872 career points. The milestone bucket came on a breakaway layup at the 12:53 mark of the first half that put Cazenovia up, 24-4. Clarke now has 1,876 career points.
The win moved Cazenovia to 12-12 overall on the season. They advance to the NEAC quarterfinals to face SUNY Cobleskill on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. in Reading, PA. Morrisville finished the season 4-22.
Freshman Megan McDermott (Greene, NY) and senior Christine Nichols (Syracuse, NY) each scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats in the win. Junior Alyssa Lubeck (Rome, NY) contributed 10 points in18 minutes off the bench.
The Wildcats shot 40 percent from the field and were an efficient 19-of-23 from the free throw line. They registered 17 steals and scored 22 points off of turnovers.
The Mustangs were led by Katrina Brown’s 14-point effort and Tekesha Hanson’s 11-points and 11 rebounds.
