The mutual goal of Faculty and The Career Services Office is student success. By working together we can ensure an individual’s transition from student to post-graduation plans is as seamless as possible.

Think of the path Cazenovia College students take to their professional career as a camping trip. You, as faculty, do an outstanding job of "filling the students’ backpacks" with the knowledge and practical skills they need to thrive once they reach their destination. At Career Services, we provide the maps and compasses, and serve as guides for students conducting their career exploration.

How can we help you? 

• We'll bring the information to your class - We specialize in conducting presentations about a host of career-related topics, such as resume writing, job-search strategies, and interviewing skills.  We can also help out in a pinch: If you need to cancel a class, just contact us and we can schedule a presentation instead, two weeks notice required.
• We help your students find the right fit - We help students determine the right careers or graduate/professional school programs for their interests, career goals, skills, values, and personality. We are a student's best resource for job outlook, salary, employment and graduate/professional school information.
• We know employers who want to know you - At Career Services, we work directly with employers, who often ask for the contact information of faculty members who could help them to target students in a particular major or discipline. Ideally, employers would like to develop mutually beneficial relationships with faculty, and can provide many forms of support. We can facilitate that connection. We also have resources to help faculty understand their ethical responsibilities toward students. (See the Faculty Guide for further information.)
• We assist in identifying quality internship opportunities - Internships are an important part of a student’s overall educational experience. Just ask any employer. We can help your students identify opportunities that will best serve them in their academic and professional pursuits.
• We have a credentials file service - Let us help you with the letter of recommendation process. We can provide you a “helpful hints handout” and act as a third party to help you and the student to maintain confidentially which graduate schools require.
• Graduate/professional school resources - We are the place to send students for up-to-date graduate school information.  We maintain current rankings, program information, and sample admission essays.  We have handouts about admission tests and we arrange for practice exams to be offered on campus. We also have a timeline handout to keep students “on track”.   
• We help students master the job interview - There is no better way to prepare for a job interview than by experiencing an "actual" interview. At career services, staff will conduct mock interviews with students, and then provide a constructive critique of performance and offer effective interview strategies.
