Carolyn Charles Deacon, Ed.D. '66,
of Neptune, N.J., joined the board in 2008.
Deacon was superintendent of the Summit Public Schools, in Summit, N.J., where she worked directly with students, staff and parents to create a collaborative learning environment. She retired from her 25-year career in education and is now working as an educational consultant and a member of several charitable boards.
After graduating from Cazenovia with an associate degree in applied science, she went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master of science degree in reading education from Syracuse University. She earned her doctorate in education administration at Seton Hall University.
