Madison County Equine Industry Initial Study
Completed in 2013 by Danielle Pidgeon, a 2013 alumna of Cazenovia College, and in association with CCE Madison, Cazenovia College, Morrisville State College and Brookfield Riding and Driving Association, this research captured an initial picture of the current status of the equine industry within Madison County.

The beginning of a longer and more in-depth effort by these partnering organizations to analyze the current and potential economic impacts of the equine industry, a total of 73 responses were collected for this study -- 44 from equine owners, and 29 from local equine business owners.

The findings of the report present a valuable first look at the current state of the industry in Madison County and will serve as a tool to help direct the continuing research to be conducted by the New York State Center for Equine Business Development Center (NYSCEBD) at Cazenovia College, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County.

As a part of our continued research, we are interested in working with as many Madison County equine business owners as possible. Participation in this work is important to our local equine industry as it will inform the continued development of resources, support infrastructure, and potential legislation change specifically designed for equine business owners. If you are interested in sharing information and history of your equine business please contact the Madison County AED Program at 315-684-3001 ext. 100
