An important piece of the job search process is providing references that will speak to your abilities. Some job seekers will list a statement on their resume that indicates that references are available upon request. However, it is assumed that you will provide references. Some employers will ask you to send the list of references with your resume and cover letter. Avoid listing the contact information of your references directly on your resume. If you find that you do not have room to add a statement about references, you do not have to have such a statement. If you need more room for your accomplishments, experience and education, please don’t try to add a reference statement. If you have room and choose to use a reference statement, consider the following.
