The Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies is focused on communication skills in the spoken and written form, and the exploration of why people communicate as they do in various formats and contexts. This major provides an excellent foundation of skills that employers are seeking. These skills include reading, writing, speaking and thinking. Communication Studies majors will find employment in many industries such as media, government, business, not-for-profit organizations, education, manufacturing and politics. The program also includes academic and experiential opportunities for application of skills in journalism, electronic and mass media. Students may choose areas to concentrate on through specific course work, internships, volunteer experiences and part-time work experiences.
