Rochester and Fort Amherst

On a CCCU sponsored trip to Amherst Castle, Caz students Sarah Ferguson, Ellie Boone, Heather Ballantyne, and Travis Duffy learn how to fire a Napoleonic era cannon.  Rebecca Reiss, Lara Sibi, and a group of other American students look on.  Rochester Castle (pictured) and Fort Amherst were both built to defend the Medway River (pictured) and in so doing, much of southeast England, including the county of Kent where Canterbury is located.  The castle has not been used for hundreds of years, but the fort was active as recently as World War II.
