Meet the Senior Fashion Merchandisers

Brittany Arnold, of Amsterdam, N.Y., is a business management major with a specialization in fashion merchandising. She has been an active student leader at Cazenovia College, serving as president of the Cazenovia Fashion Connection Club and as the student director of this year’s Fashion Show. She began as an intern at Miss Scarlett Boutique, in Saratoga Springs. N.Y., where she gained hands-on experience managing all aspects of a small business, was promoted to a sales associate, and attended the Fame Tradeshow. Upon graduation, Brittany will receive a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in fashion merchandising. Her career goals are to become a fashion buyer for boutique brands and ultimately have her own small business.
 
Olivia Bishop, of Gouverneur, N.Y., is a business management major with a specialization in fashion merchandising. She spent last summer in New York City, interning at a model management firm, TRUE Model Management. She previously worked at an events company in Syracuse, N.Y., and with various event companies she encountered through her internship. As a senior, she is the promotion team leader for this year’s Fashion Show. Her ultimate career goal is to work in fashion public relations.
 
Jessica Manno of Pompton Lakes, N.J., is a business management major with a specialization in fashion merchandising. Jessica interned at Isabella Boutique in Cazenovia, N.Y., where she learned visual display techniques and attended trade shows. This internship led to a job working at the swimwear design company, Malia Mills in the Hamptons, which is where she will work after graduation. Since her freshman year, she has helped with Cazenovia College Fashion Shows and is now the 2014 student co-director.  Her career goal is to become an event planner in the fashion industry where she can continue her passion for events. In the spring, Jessica will receive her Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from Cazenovia College.  Jessica would like to thank her mother and her brother for all the love and support she has received throughout her college career!
 
Sabrina Morciglio was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and is a business major with a specialization in fashion merchandising and a minor in fashion design. She completed her summer internship at Some Girls Boutique in Troy, N.Y., where she gained hands-on experience managing all aspects of a small business and assisted with photo shoots, planning events and merchandising displays. Sabrina has been involved with the annual fashion show for the past three years and, as a senior, she is the reception event leader and a member of the production team for this year’s show. After graduation, Sabrina plans to move to Florida to begin her career and gain more experience in the fashion industry and event planning.
 
Leigh Shoemaker, of Rome, N.Y., will earn a Bachelor of Professional Studies with a concentration in fashion merchandising in May 2014.  She is graduating a year early to get her foot in the door of the fashion industry.  Leigh interned this past summer at Malia Mills Swimwear, in New York City and the Hamptons.  While there she gained superior experience and made lasting relationships with coworkers and clients. She also interned at Fort Stanwix National Monument, gaining new business knowledge and skills. Leigh is the co-director of the model and merchandise team, as well as the financial director of this year’s fashion show.  After graduation, she hopes to pursue a graduate education and get started in industry. She wishes all of her classmates the best of luck!
 
Katharine Welch, of Skaneateles, N.Y., is a management major with a specialization in fashion merchandising. She earned an associate’s degree in humanities from Onondaga Community College before transferring to Cazenovia College in the fall of 2012. Katharine interned for Cate & Sally, a high-end women’s clothing store in her hometown. She learned about retail buying and visual merchandising, and implemented a social media presence for the store. She also interned in the visuals department at MacKenzie-Childs in Aurora, N.Y., where she assisted in creating holiday displays for their New York City store and prepared products for photo shoots. After graduation, Katharine plans to pursue a career in visual merchandising.
