"Urban Chic" Comes to a Close

April 30, 2014 - 2:22pm -- klwilson
The Cazenovia College 41st Annual Student Fashion Show Urban Chic has come to a close. The Fashion Show Production and Management class has been working all semester on the planning and production of the Fashion Show.  The class was finally able to see their hard work come to life on Saturday, April 26th.

Urban Chic  was held at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, New York. It showcased underclassmen garments as well as sixteen collections completed by the Senior Fashion Design majors. Upon arrival to the Landmark Theatre, guests were able to get their picture taken at the Red Carpet Photo Shoot. The VIP Reception guests were able to meet special guest, Thom Filicia. Guests were also able to browse the souvenir and raffle table, as well as twenty-two senior boards created by Fashion Design and Merchandising Seniors, showcasing their work.

Guests were anxious to enter into the show once doors opened at 5:00 pm. Director of the Fashion Studies Program, Karen Steen, gave a magnificent speech introducing sponsors and college staff, as well as honoring the late Mr. Wheeler. Special guest, Thom Filicia, did a superb job introducing the show and getting the audience excited. As a Syracuse native he had a personal touch sharing his experiences with the Landmark Theatre as a child.

Overall the show was a success! The Cazenovia College Annual Student Fashion Show grows each year beyond the previous year. The feedback from guests has been positive and everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Thom Filicia himself was impressed that the Fashion Show is entirely student run and loved the location as it brought back childhood memories.
