Cazenovia College has established transfer-friendly formal agreements with several Upstate community colleges – Monroe Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, Herkimer College, and Fulton-Montgomery Community College – so that students have a clear path to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Cazenovia College upon completion of a directed sequence of coursework at their respective community colleges. A "2+2" agreement with Onondaga Community College (OCC) is in the final review stages and will be formally announced in the near future. As part of the agreements, students who have earned their associate’s degree are guaranteed admission to Cazenovia College at junior status and can complete the related Cazenovia College baccalaureate degree in two years, as long as the required course work is followed and students enroll as full-time students.
"Cazenovia College has been working with community colleges throughout New York State to recognize the academic preparation and achievements of associate's degree holders," said Kristen Bowers, Cazenovia College Associate Director of Transfer Admissions. "These strengthened academic partnerships include curriculum advising guides that will be used to communicate degree requirements to students, including recommendations for course selection, but most importantly put students in the best position to earn their associate's degree and then complete their bachelor's degree requirements at Cazenovia College in two years."
The associate degree-granting programs at the various community colleges were selected based on curriculum similarities with the same or similar bachelor degree-granting programs at Cazenovia College. In the coming year, Cazenovia College will continue to initiate discussions in hopes of formalizing new transfer pathway agreements with Broome Community College, Cayuga Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, Jefferson Community College, and Hudson Valley Community College.
