Room Selection

The Office of Residence Life coordinates the housing lottery and room selection process every April to allow students the opportunity to determine their housing assignment for the following academic year. Students are encouraged to carefully read and familiarize themselves with the processes, policies and housing options detailed in the online brochure.

New students are matched after the last orientation session in July based upon information provided in the roommate matching form.

Returning students determine their housing assignment for the following academic year in a process that begins in April. Students are encouraged to carefully read and familiarize themselves with the processes, policies and housing options detailed in the online brochure.

If you have any questions about any aspect of room assignments or selection please contact the Office of Residence Life at 315-655-7237 or stop by the office, which is located in Chapman Hall. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Residency Requirement
Cazenovia is primarily a residential community. Students with less than 90 credit hours are required to live on campus unless residing with parents, guardians or relatives. Exceptions are noted in the Residence Life section of the Student Handbook.

Housing Lottery Process Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the housing lottery process every student must:
  1. Submit a completed Continuing Student Reservation Agreement (This will be mailed to your home address in March). Completed Agreements can be mailed to or submitted to the Student Accounts Office.
  2. Pay the $125.00 Registration Deposit
  3. Ensure that your student account is paid in full (This includes those on the TuitionPay payment plan).
Please complete these three items through the Student Accounts Office, located on the first floor of Williams Hall.

Things to Remember
  1. Students who do not pay on time will be housed on a first-come, first-served basis following the completion of the housing lottery process.
  2. A student must be enrolled full-time and maintain at least the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester to live in College-owned or leased housing.
  3. There is no guarantee that a student will obtain their desired housing option.
