Cazenovia College officials announced a $350,000 commitment from the Christakos family of Cazenovia, New York. The gift names the College's new artificial turf athletics field in memory of the late Nicholas J. Christakos, trustee emeritus of Cazenovia College and longtime civic and business leader in the Central New York area.
"By making this gift to the new turf field, we are pleased to pay tribute to our father and commemorate his work on behalf of Cazenovia College," says Sparky Christakos.
"With the help of the Christakos family's extraordinary generosity, the College now has a state-of-the-art field," says Cazenovia College President Mark Tierno. "We are indebted to Nick’s wife, Harriet, and his children and their spouses: Conkie and Jim Sessler, Sparky and Patti Rickett Christakos '77, and John and Debbie Christakos, as we have already witnessed the enthusiasm of alumni, students, parents, staff and faculty for the field, and the positive impression that it makes on prospective students and their parents."
Members of the broader Cazenovia community will be invited to join the Christakos family and other generous donors to the field project as well as members of the campus community for a dedication ceremony and celebration in the early fall.
