Shane A. O’Dell '02, Senior Vice President and Co-Founder of McGovern, O'Dell & Associates at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, joined the Cazenovia College Board of Trustees in 2017. He serves as the Chair for the Audit Committee and sits on the Enrollment Management and Executive committees.
Shane began his career with McGovern, O'Dell & Associates at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2006. Shane is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He completed his course work for the CFP® at Boston University Institute of Finance. He also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM(CRPC®) designation. Shane also earned the Certified 401(k) Professional, C(k)P® designation from The Retirement Advisor University at UCLA Anderson School of Management and the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor CPFA designation.
He graduated from Cazenovia College with a bachelor's degree in business management. Recently, Shane was named to Forbes/SHOOK "America’s Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisors" List in 2017 and 2018 and The Forbes "Best-in-State Next Generation Wealth Advisors“ List in 2019. Shane served as the 190th Commencement Speaker for the 2015 Cazenovia College graduation ceremony and was inducted into the Caz College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013. In addition, Shane proudly serves as the president of the Dianne L. O'Dell Scholarship Foundation and is very active with many other civic organizations in the community. He resides in Destin, Florida, with his wife, Briane, and their two children, Jax and Avalyn.
