Intellectual Property

As defined by the American Heritage® Dictionary, “Intellectual Property is a product of the intellect that has commercial value, including copyrighted property such as literary or artistic works/designs, and ideational property, such as patents, appellations of origin, business methods, and industrial processes.”

According to the U.S. Office of Research Integrity, "The theft or misappropriation of intellectual property includes the unauthorized use of ideas or unique methods obtained by a privileged communication."
