Cazenovia College will be closing at the end of the 2022-23 academic year and will not be accepting applications for the 2023-24 Police Academy. We expect the Madison County Regional Pre-Employment Police Academy to move to a nearby college located within Madison County.  While the process to transition the Police Academy is underway, we encourage those interested in applying for the next class to share their contact information using our 2023-24 Police Academy Interest Form.

Training Tomorrow's Law Enforcement

Madison County Regional Pre-employment Police Academy at Cazenovia College meets all requirements established by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) while allowing cadets to continue his/her current employment and other responsibilities with limited intrusion. A graduate is eligible to be hired anywhere in New York State upon completion. Cadets also have the option to earn 18 undergraduate college credits and a certificate in Law Enforcement along with the pre-employment certificate at no additional charge. Financial aid is available to students who meet eligibility.

The training program is traditionally held from September through June on the Cazenovia College campus. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and on Saturdays. The Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Program is open to any New York State resident interested in pursuing employment in a police department in the State. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

This is a unique opportunity for those interested in entering the law enforcement field. It is designed to allow the cadet to continue his or her current employment or other responsibilities while completing the training program.
