The Liberal Studies program is among the most flexible degree programs available at the college. Ideal for students seeking entry into graduate or law school, or for a variety of careers, the program is structured around a multi-disciplinary core of courses combining the methods and insights of the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences with the practical aspects of professional education. A wide range of elective options, as well as internship and study abroad experiences, allow students to further enhance and customize their educational experiences.

  • To prepare students to become lifelong learners in their professional and personal lives;
  • To emphasize the inter-relatedness of liberal arts and professional education;
  • To encourage intellectual, social, and ethical growth through the critical examination of works in art, science, philosophy, and literature; and
  • To prepare students to be successful citizens and leaders in a global community.
All students complete a capstone project in their senior year involving original research; professional internship opportunities are available to develop practical, career-related skills and experience.
