- The program prepares students to obtain dual initial teacher certification in early childhood education & special education.
- Teacher candidates attend on-campus classes in an innovative Inclusive Education Lab which models dynamic, student-centered, intellectually stimulating learning environments.
- Students participate in a variety of clinical practica and student teaching field experiences in both rural and urban schools and educational centers. These formative experiences prepare teacher candidates to become reflective practitioners with a deep knowledge of the historical, theoretical, and pedagogical aspects of the teaching profession.
The Inclusive Early Childhood Education program leads toward New York State initial teacher certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth to Grade 2) and Teaching Students with Disabilities (Birth to Grade 2). This Bachelor of Science degree program contains core liberal arts and sciences courses, professional courses, and multiple opportunities for supervised field experiences, culminating in student teaching in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and primary classrooms serving diverse student populations, especially those in high-needs rural school settings.
Accreditation
The Inclusive Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Graduates of Cazenovia College’s Inclusive Early Childhood Education Program meet the following claims:
