2020-2021 Need Based Financial Aid
February 1st - Cazenovia College’s Priority Deadline for filing the FAFSA
Beginning October 1st – Complete and electronically submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. We encourage you to file the FAFSA electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our FAFSA school code is 002685.
We recommend that you have your completed 2018 Federal tax returns and New York state returns available when completing the online FAFSA application.
Filing the FAFSA Application is FREE and will initiate both the Federal and New York State (for New York State residents) financial aid processes. Once the application has been processed, students will receive an email with a secure URL, linking them to their electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) information. The SAR is the output document the Federal Processor sends to students who file a complete FAFSA. The institutions you indicated on the application will also receive your SAR information electronically.
Cazenovia College may verify the financial information for students applying for Federal student aid. During this process, we will request you obtain an IRS transcript (www.irs.gov) of your 2018 tax filing, copies of 2018 W-2’s, a verification worksheet and other necessary documentation of income as needed. To expedite this process, you do have the option when filing your electronic FAFSA to allow your IRS tax information to be matched with your FAFSA data, using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). This will result in less paperwork you will have to forward to the College.
After we receive the results from your online FAFSA, and you have been admitted to the College, a Financial Aid Award Letter will be sent to you with a summary of your financial aid package clearly outlining all available sources of financial assistance. Admitted new students will receive their award on a rolling basis starting mid-November; returning Cazenovia College students will begin receiving their award letters after Memorial Day. Priority funding will be given to those students who submit the FAFSA by February 1st.
