While studying abroad in Canterbury, England, we have the opportunity to travel in Europe. Over the half-term break, with careful planning for COVID requirements, I went to three different cities in Italy: Rome, Cinque Terre, and Florence. I have had the luxury to travel with some of my closest friends and it has made this experience surpass anything I have ever done before. To anyone who plans to travel, I highly recommend traveling with your friends. It will strengthen your relationships and give you unforgettable memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.
While being with my friends Sarae Perez, Dasbry Enriquez, and Ashley Paredes, I was able to experience a different type of traveling. During all the sightseeing we were also trying to capture the perfect images of scenery, each other, and with each other. When we were visiting the Uffizi Art Gallery in Florence we were in our own world; infatuated by the art but also recreating it for the camera. Trying to find the words to describe the type of happiness these girls bring into my life is unfathomable. I have formed unbreakable bonds that will last forever. Having people you feel comfortable enough to confide in, while also traveling the world together is incomparable.
One of the highlights of the trip was when we were touring through the cities via motor scooter. Driving down the streets of Italy at 25-miles-per-hour is more fun than you would think. As the wind was blowing in our faces and we were wiping the tears in our eyes, it did not matter that it was 30 degrees outside. We were with each other—living in the moment. Whether we were laughing because Ashley was always far behind us or signaling each other to look to the left to see the Colosseum in Rome, we were enjoying each moment. Now, everywhere we go we look for scooters to ride in hopes that we continue to create exhilarating experiences. Although we were missing a few members of the group because they were on their own trips, I could not picture myself studying abroad with anyone else.
