The Interior Design Program at Cazenovia College is seeking applications for a tenure‐track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2023.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of coursework in an undergraduate Interior Design program, advise students, and provide service and leadership to the institution. Responsibilities may also involve faculty advising of Interior Design Club. Full‐time faculty are expected to continue to participate actively in creative or scholarly work and maintain relevance in the field.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MFA in Interior Design or Interior Architecture and Design, or an equivalent terminal degree in a closely related field (i.e. Architecture). Candidates should possess a breadth of professional skills with the expertise to teach in a range of content areas at all levels of the curriculum.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential to teach interior design in several of the following content areas: manual drafting, lighting design, universal design principles, commercial interior design (working knowledge of 20/20 CAP Studio is desired), retail and exhibition design, design history, cabinetry and millwork specification and detailing, furniture design, building codes and regulatory compliance, interior materials and finishes, business practices, sustainable design, portfolio presentation techniques, 3D rendering/communication techniques, and research methods to inform design solutions (EBD). Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3DS Max, and Photoshop is required. Proficiency in SketchUp and Revit is also highly desired.

The successful candidate is required to be an NCIDQ Certificate holder or is fully qualified to become credentialed. Previous teaching experience, professional design experience, and membership in relevant academic or professional organizations such as ASID, IIDA, and IDEC are also strongly desired.
