Barbara Lindberg became the Cazenovia College Equine Studies Program Director in the fall of 2003 following a position as assistant professor of Equine Studies at Johnson and Wales University, where she was for three years prior to that. While at Johnson and Wales, she was also Director of Riding. From 1996-2000, Lindberg was the executive director of English riding and assistant professor of Equine Studies at the University of Findlay, and from 1988-1996 was an Equine Science instructor and assistant professor at the SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology at Morrisville. Prior to her career in academia, she held training, teaching and management positions at hunter, dressage and eventing facilities.
