The Golden Bitch

Award-winning Syracuse New Times columnist and playwright Jeff Kramer delivers his third, full-length comedy, The Golden Bitch, developed with the assistance of Armory Square Playwrights.

The plot revolves around a dinner party, which descends into a dog fight when one couple announces a surprise family addition. Social conceits tumble and friendships are tested as the four misbehaving humans dig up messy secrets and defend moral turf with fangs bared. The Golden Bitch will be performed by an ensemble of award-winning actors: Katheryn Guyette, Moe Harrington, Edward Mastin, and Michael O'Neill.

Kramer currently writes a popular humor column every other week in the Syracuse New Times, and formerly for the Syracuse Post-Standard. As a playwright, he wrote and co-produced Lowdown Lies at the Redhouse in 2008, which won a S.A.L.T. (Syracuse Area Live Theatre) award for best original production, and Reaching for Marsby, which debuted at the Civic Center in 2013.

Len Fonte directs the production. Fonte has directed more than forty productions, including the world premieres of Jeff Kramer’s Lowdown Lies and Reaching for Marsby. As a playwright, his works—among others—include Melagrana, produced by CNY Playhouse; 2009 SALT Award winner Werewolf, produced by Rarely Done Productions; and, Wasted Bread, produced by Armory Square Playhouse. At the first Syracuse Area Live Theatre Youth awards (SALTYs), Len was voted Best Director, Distinguished Educator, and was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is an adjunct instructor at Syracuse University’s Department of Drama and a theater critic for the Post-Standard. Len is a founding member of Armory Square Playwrights.
