The development of Cazenovia College's Pandemic Flu Plan is based on the main assumption that in the event that Avian Flu enters the United States, the campus will need to suspend academic programs and most operations for weeks or months.  In the event of a less severe strain of pandemic flu, classes and operations may continue with daily monitoring of the situation. Strategies to slow transmission of widespread flu include social distancing, cancellation of any public assemblies or gatherings, frequent hand-washing and cough etiquette, use of face masks, and ultimately seclusion until the threat passes.  The suspension of classes and the closing of residence halls will be disruptive to students’ progress toward their degree.  With advance planning, disruptions can be minimized.  Utilizing online technology, planning for alternate assignments, and extension of the academic year may be options for students to stay on track with their studies.
