Caz Earth Week*

*Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, some events will have to be moved to a livestreamed/online-only format or simply postponed until 2021. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to proceed with outdoor events that permit adequate social-distancing.

Cazenovia Earth Week is 35 community groups coming together to celebrate the wonderful and beautiful place where we live, to educate ourselves about what we have and can be doing, and taking actions here in our homes, neighborhoods and community to save our planet. All events are free and open to the public!

This year, Cazenovia Earth Week is honoring of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. It is a week of activities which starts off April 18th with the 3rd annual Seize The Power: Climate & Energy Action Fair (which will proceed as a livestreamed/online-format event). Throughout the week there are great new events such as the free Earth Day Concert at the Catherine Cummings Theatre (POSTPONED), and some of Cazenovia’s annual traditional events such as Cazenovia Forum and Project Cafe’s Community Clean Up.  The week ends with Arbor Day planting of trees and the municipal government highlighting some of their energy saving projects.

From the American Legion to the Public library, from young children to senior citizens, from Cazenovia College to local business people, Cazenovia Earth Week is a time of coming together and honoring the Earth.

Throughout March, Common Grounds and the Cazenovia Public Library will have marked bottle cap receptacles where you can drop off rinsed plastic caps.  We need only plastic, no metal.  If you have questions or wish to volunteer to help with this project please contact Julie Poplaski at julipop@gmail.com.
