The Cazenovia College chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, the National Honor Society for First-Year Success, proudly inducted a new group of students on Saturday, September 29. Congratulations to new members Emily Dejong, Kevin Schenck, and Jordan Wall

Alpha Lambda Delta invites all first-year students who have earned a 3.5 grade point average achieved during either the first term of their freshman year or for the first year overall.

“Achieving at this level is a first step towards an excellent undergraduate experience,” said John Livermore, Alpha Lambda Delta faculty advisor and associate professor of mathematics.

Each year, the president of Alpha Lambda Delta speaks to the student body at Cazenovia College’s Convocation Ceremony. During the 2018 ceremony, sophomore Olivia Deraway shared with first-year students her experience transitioning from high school to college. Reflecting on advice she received before beginning college, Deraway described the advice given to her by a friend. If you missed Deraway’s speech, you can watch the recording at

Alpha Lambda Delta states its mission among students in their first year of college is to encourage superior academic achievement, intelligent living, and developing meaningful goals and roles in society. One of the most important goals of Alpha Lambda Delta is to be actively involved with the community.
