Officials from SUNY Schenectady and Cazenovia College signed an agreement today providing graduates of SUNY Schenectady's associate's degree program in Teacher Education the opportunity to pursue their bachelor's degrees in Education from Cazenovia College. What makes this agreement special is that Cazenovia will offer bachelor's degree courses at SUNY Schenectady's Center City site, located on State Street in downtown Schenectady.
Dr. Steady Moono, President of SUNY Schenectady, explained that the new agreement is an excellent opportunity for graduates who want to stay in the Capital Region to earn their bachelor's degrees from Cazenovia while staying close to home.
"Our students are often balancing families and employment, in addition to their studies at SUNY Schenectady," Dr. Moono said. "This agreement now offers them a significant option to continue their education and earn their bachelor's degrees from Cazenovia while staying in the local area. We are very pleased to partner with Cazenovia and offer this new avenue for students to fulfill their dreams of becoming educators."

"We're excited about this partnership that enables education students to earn a Cazenovia College bachelor's degree while studying at SUNY Schenectady," said Cazenovia College President Dr. Ron Chesbrough. "Our sought after education programs are accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) and lead toward New York State initial teacher certification. With the experience of offering similar degree programs at other community colleges, we are pleased to now be an option for SUNY Schenectady students to continue their coursework at the familiar and convenient Center City site."
The Cazenovia College inclusive education programs prepare students for dual certification in teaching general education as well as teaching students with disabilities, either in Early Childhood (birth to grade 2), or Childhood Education (grades 1-6).
